Maybe you need a designer. I can definitely help.

I'm Nathan Rose-Heim: a product designer with 8 years of experience and a background in military intelligence. I specialize in making complex problems clear, and knowing exactly what to do about them.

I'm a product designer with 8 years of experience. My background is unusual: I spent seven years in the Air Force as a Farsi language and intelligence analyst before transitioning into design. That work trained me to immerse in a complex domain fast, separate signal from noise, and communicate clearly across every level of an organization. I brought all of that into product work, and I haven't stopped using it.

What I'm actually good at is owning a problem space - not just exploring it. When I take something on, the people around me can trust they're getting the real picture and making the right call. I do the hard work of figuring out what the problem actually is, then I design what it needs.

I also care a lot about teaching. Some of my best work is curriculum I've built to spread expertise across design and engineering teams - because an org that depends on one person knowing something is fragile.

When I'm not doing that, I'm building things I probably shouldn't: custom firmware on microcontrollers, homelab servers, tools that don't exist yet and probably don't need to.
